Peripheral Nerve Stimulation (PNS) for Chronic Pain Relief
A Minimally Invasive, Drug-Free Pain Solution
At Oregon Pain & Spine, we specialize in advanced pain management solutions that help our patients regain their quality of life. If you suffer from chronic pain that has not responded to conventional treatments, Peripheral Nerve Stimulation (PNS) may provide the relief you’ve been searching for.
What Is Peripheral Nerve Stimulation?
Peripheral Nerve Stimulation is an FDA-approved, drug-free therapy that works by delivering mild electrical impulses to targeted nerves, blocking pain signals before they reach the brain.
Using Nalu’s innovative neurostimulation system, this therapy can help reduce chronic pain in the shoulder, back, knee, foot, leg, or arm.
How Does PNS Work?
Unlike traditional spinal cord stimulators, the Nalu System offers:
- A tiny implantable pulse generator (IPG) is placed just under the skin near the affected nerve.
- Thin insulated leads carry gentle electrical impulses to block pain signals.
- You control the stimulation using a smartphone app, adjusting settings for personalized relief.
- The battery is worn externally, so there’s no need for repeated surgeries to replace it.
Why Choose Nalu Peripheral Nerve Stimulation?
Unlike traditional pain management solutions, the Nalu PNS System offers:
- Minimally Invasive Treatment – A small, outpatient procedure places the leads and micro-IPG with minimal recovery time.
- No Permanent Commitment – You can test drive the system before committing to a permanent implant.
- Tiny Implant, Big Relief – The Nalu micro-IPG is smaller than other neurostimulators, making it more comfortable and discreet.
- Wearable & Removable Battery – No need for surgery to replace a battery—just swap out the wearable Therapy Disc in seconds.
- Smartphone-Controlled Therapy – Adjust your pain relief settings on iPhone or Android anytime.
- Long-Lasting Relief – Designed to provide consistent pain relief for years.

What to Expect: The Treatment Process
- Wear Experience: Before the trial, you’ll wear a non-functioning Therapy Disc for up to 14 days to determine the best location for your Nalu system.
- Therapy Trial: A temporary system is placed through a minimally invasive outpatient procedure. You’ll use the Nalu System for a few days to evaluate your pain relief before deciding on a permanent implant.
- Permanent Implant: If the trial is successful, the permanent Nalu micro-IPG and leads are implanted in a short, outpatient procedure.
- Regain Your Life: After implantation, you’ll work with Dr. Kemp and our team to fine-tune your therapy settings. With effective pain relief, you may be able to return to work, travel, and other activities you once enjoyed.
